Obviously a Dance Co. was born from an ironic bond: co-founders Elisa Meyer and Josh Luna met in a contact improv class, where they connected over a shared aversion to touching strangers. That led to the foundation of everything Obviously a Dance Co. represents.

Josh and Elisa believe contemporary dance can be both technically rigorous AND fun. Blending Elisa's background in theater with Josh's eye for visual design, we create playful, athletic choreography that explores themes from awkward childhood friendships to the absurdity of office politics. Our mission is to build theatrical worlds that are engaging, cheeky, and prove that dance doesn’t have to be so serious to be profound.

Our work has been presented at festivals across the US, including Small Plates Dance Austin, Alpha Omega Dance Residency, and Emergence Dance Festival.
